Given the current events in Ukraine, we’d like to extend our best wishes for the safety and well-being of everyone who may be affected.
We will be donating 10% of all our proceeds made in the last week of March to vetted organizations helping children affected by the War in Ukraine.
Both of us (Olga and Mark) have escaped the former USSR to the US long ago (in the 1990s). Both of us have roots in Ukraine.
Olga was born and raised in Kyiv. She and her family were affected by the Chernobyl disaster, but luckily Olga’s mom took her and her little sister away as soon as she learned about it through unofficial channels. Now, many of Olga’s old family friends have disappeared since the War erupted a few weeks ago.
Mark was born and raised in Uzbekistan, but his roots are also from Ukraine. His mother’s family left then-Soviet Ukraine for Uzbekistan during the Great Famine in the 1930s (imposed by Joseph Stalin). His father was evacuated to Uzbekistan as a baby from Ukraine during World War II and Holocaust.
Ukraine and people in Ukraine have seen a lot – from the Great Famine, World War II, Chernobyl, and this terrible crisis.
If you would like to help with donations, remember that 10% of your purchases made in the last week of March will be donated to humanitarian purposes and only to vetted organizations. This 10% donation applies to all purchases made between March 28 and April 3. We will also make donations for any purchases between now and then by request.
We wish you well and hope that none of you or your loved ones are affected. If you do, our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Warmly,
Olga & Mark
